Presentation summary
Now we are going to sum up our project report to the final presentation for APPT:6112 Technology Project. The theme of the presentation is safe electrical principles used in automotive studies. The project vision is to use the electrical principles to create a failsafe model for a conventional vehicle. This failsafe model is the project core where the seatbelt must be automatically released and the fire sprinkler solenoid valve must open to allow the dry powder foam from the fire extinguisher pass by.

Report writing
Tonight I manage to brush up few of my research and start writing the report. I ended up writing 2,000 words with little understanding about our project. I re-read every sentences I typed in the report, I was surprised to find that I was actually on the right track. I wrote about the system operation, system components and fucntions. I also added few primary school drawings to the report but I can say that I have done enough damaged to the report LOL.
Plan for tomorrow. I will start installing few of my master piece solidwork drawings and paste them to the assignment report. ONLY if I manage to do it all together, otherwise, I would just leave the solidwork drawings to the final presentation part.

Seatbelt Tongue flange
Today I watch my lecture Gerry Hamilton design the seatbelt tongue flange on the solidwork software. It was fun and I found it interesting. I draw one up on my own, fixed some calculations as according to the one we want to use for the project. I manage all to draw the design but except for bending the tongue part so it tilt on an angle. However, I am happy and appreciated that Gerry (lecture help me out). He also advice me to look up on youtube website for more help and information.
The next following week me and my group memeber will meet up with our lecture Lixin to discuss further.

SolidWork practice
First time for me to use the solidork software...
It was quite a challenge for me but lucky my lecture (Lixin) helps me out to start. The programme is all new to me and, i only manage to draw a 3-D block....it is alrite for beginner heheheh....(LOL. So at the end of the day, I packed my bag went home to download the 30days-trial for the solidwork on internet. I couldn’t do it because i have to get permission from Unitec course admin. Then I waited waited for one of the lecture to give me the solidwork software, unfortunately he was always busy so and, he gotten time.
Our project desings will follow up the existing desing but I have to put in to the soilidwork software to simulate and show its operation.
Have a good Thursday night movie people!!...........

Tech.P Assignment
Virtual design
- first we sketch the seatbelt on a piece of paper.
- second we used the Solid work software to draw the seatbelt; into 3 different views(side, back, front).
- task three we try to simulate the system circuit on the multisim software. Didn’t work well because we are missing some data and components, thus, my friend Samuel was really keen to work on it.
- fourth we discussed how we are going to design the seatbelt to the Auto-cad software.
- our last task was to prepare some datasheet and arrange the design to a easy view.
Tonight, I found some useful website; the site contains the seatbelt physics from the design to its mechanics. However, other website got quite a few useful sources about the thermo valve, solenoid, and fire extinguisher assembly.

Project (seatbelt first patent) from scratch
This blog is just a sample for our project Seatbelt design dimensions (Length & width). The second drawing is the layout of the object. The electrical/electronic base is adjacent to the seatbelt main component, for quick access in case of servicing and diagnosis. Therefore this blog is to help us to start designing our system, and most of all the seatbelt designation to fully work properly with the components electrical and mechanical operations.

Group meeting
We meet up with our technical supervisor (Lixin) and discuss about our Technology Project progression. He wants us to finalize the system circuit and drawings/diagrams and the system layout must be draft out before the next meeting. Therefore, we discussed that we must do the task given by Lixin so we can move forward with our project.

Points wiht ideas
Class today was ok i guess..
We (Samuel) meet Lixin (supervisor) about our project calculations. He helped us and explains clearly about the calculations that we should choose. Then we discussed the project circuit system. Samuel was really working hard on it with the Multisim software. We came to a point, which our project is on the right track. All we have to do now is to design our seatbelt and simulate our project circuit system.
One:
Seatbelt tongue or clip will have the same design like the existing one but the difference is we will be adding a hook to anchor the tongue inside the bucket (seatbelt). The hook will be some form of electromagnetic design with coils windings around it. The hook will be than hardened in metal/cold hardened procedure. Therefore, the hook will withstand any given force or pressure to be release and to anchor the seatbelt tongue. The hook is electromagnetic control by the solenoid. Moreover, the solenoid is control by some pressure switch included in the system and also the ECU.
Two:
We are going to use Multisim to simulate the system circuit. Start from the suppliers to the control switches and to the ECU. Group member Samuel is dealing with this section.
Three:
We are going to find out about deceleration and momentum statistics. This will help us to prove in theory with figures of numbers. Thereby, we have some evidence to support that in a crash accident the seatbelt (Project) is meeting the expectation to seatbelt LAW. Speaking of LAW, we are strongly afflicted about them. Because New Zealand government rules and regulations.
31/08/2011, this dated to the next meeting with Lixin (supervisor).

Switches and Sensors research
Today back in class, tutorial with our lecture Lixin was helpful, he remind us about the course and the purpose of this course. He explain to us what outcomes we get after this semsester. It helps me to modivate myslelf to keep up with our project and to do my best. End of the day Lixin (lecture) gave us (group) some tasks to do, about our 'project'
- draw a circuit diagram
- calculation and formulas to used
- re-assemble our researchers
I found some great source from this website http://www.control-logic.com.au/shop/category/2957, it really great I found all what I need from here. About the limit-switches, temperature controller, solid state relays, etc. we are going to use all these components for our "Automatic Seat-belt release system with fire sprinkler mechanism".
For next week on the 17th/August/2011, me and my group are going to meet with our supervisor Lixin (lecture) and discuss further more about our research.

Semester 2 (2011)
Back to Unitec
Great, lots of new friends, many things to do. New subjects.
Well, for our group project, we had a small discusion about our project. Automatic seat-belt release system with fire sprinkler mechanism. So far so good! We had a nice long holiday and we came up with all new sort of ideas for the project. At the end of the day I was to confidence that we are on the right path with our project, meaning we know now that our project is going to work. It might sound a bit off track with the heading but we don't mind it all.

Automotive Sensors Application
Week 12
Today, most automotive sensors are manufacture with intelligent materials, including their unique application performance to participate in most systems found in the automotive. A typical sensor is to send information on a particular system or components achievement and send the information to the engine control unit (ECU).
My research today, was quite a challenge for me, although there are many sensors to deal with and what are their right applications for our project. I have collected data’s on a TLE sensor which is known as Temperature-Limited Emission, this component combines Hall sensor elements and both analog and digital signal processing in one chip (www.infineon.com). It can be apply in many useful ways for the vehicle on the transmission, wheel speed and the engine crankshaft.

Week 10 (23/May/2011)
My group and I will follow the following 6 strategies for our research findings. The following points are from our lecture Lixin. I found the information interesting and supportive to us.
- Quantitative
- Experimental
- Mixed method
- Qualitative
- Interpretative
- Qualitatve
The above 6 points are related to the data & research and how we are going to use those data's for our project. Fundamentally, our project is about the vehicle automatic seatbelt release system with fire sprinkler mechanism.
(The question is can me and my group members do this project)?

Switches & Sensors Research
Week 11
Today, I have done some research over fire switches, including pressure switch and flow switch for the fire sprinkler system. (http://www.vikinggroupinc.com/en/products/491/540) this link links to the pressure switch specification website that we are going to use for the project total control switch. However, we might be changing some specs of the component to suit our project control circuit. The objective of the pressure switch is to determine an enhancement to our “automatic seatbelt release system with fire sprinkler mechanism”.

Ideas from our project planning
Week 10
My task is to research about Regulations & Electrical circuits, in relative to our project (Vehicle automatic seatbelt release system). We use this term 'system' because our project is base under vehicle safety-systems for vehicle occupants (passengers & driver) and components.
As we all understand that vehicle safety has been developed by experts and scholars with their intelligence knowledge with fault findings such as mechanical and electrical and most of all problem solving. To put myself into this concept, I found it very hard to explain my project. However, I’m just going to follow the 6 principle strategies for the Research. To my own knowledge again, the information is quite a bit tricky because of the level of academic writing is far beyond my view. Big thanks! To my friends (group members) we are on the right path with our research plan.

Gant Chart
Week 9 (04 May 2011)
Today, we play around with the project software to draft our project gantt chart. After that we start investigating some sensors devices that we want to do for the project and the switches. In our gantt chart progress, first we start writing about the research and investigation tasks, desinging of our project task, bulding our project, testing our model, write the report and our final power point presentation. There are more subtitles including in our gantt chart, basically they are the set up date for chiefly tasks that we have mention before. The gantt chart is not unique but we must include this in our report for the project management area.
Group Meeting
Week 7 (20 April 2011)
My group held a meeting on this date to discuss about our project. We research about regulations for seatbelt and fire sprinkler. Our sources are clear that the regulation is only focusing on the belt features which are the materials for the belt and its tension reflective. Not forgetting the clip which is a minor worry. Manufacture is a must do, to install a three point clip or more than. We discussed how our components are going to fit in the market. We believe that safety is the number one priority from the rules and government regulations for vehicles. Therefore, our project is essential to safety by means of helping drivers and passenger dismount the vehicle. We are very clear to our project regarding safely dismounting after an accident

Contract of technology project
Week 6 (13 April 2011)
We are going to design a vehicle automatic seatbelt release system with fire sprinkler mechanism.
Our project will briefly discuss;
-The problem when a vehicle crash impacts to the vehicle occupants.
-Or when a fire occur
In a car crash incident in an event of fire, people might panic and get trapped underneath the belt. Or if the vehicle is overturns vehicle occupants might unable to manually release the seatbelt.
The idea of our project is to dedesign a vehicle automatic seatbelt released system with electrical/electronic control. This system is to enable vehicle occupants dismounting safely without resisting.
Our agreement outcomes are as follow;
-Investigate existing seatbelt technology related to our project
-Investigate sensors (impact sensor, upside-down sensor, standstill sensor, fire sensor) can be used in our project
-Investigate switches (seatbelt switch, limit-seat switch, ignition switch, logic-gate switches, pressure switch) that we can used in our project
-Design an electrical/electronic control circuit
-Design an automatic electromagnetic seatbelt released system with electrical control and mechanical operated
-Use AutoCAD or Solidwork software to design a new stalk (automatic seatbelt released system)06 April 2011
Group Tutorial Discussion
Week 5 (06 April 2011)
This week my group discuss about automatic seatbelt release system. Even though, this system is already in the market. But we want it to be electrical control and mechanical operated.
The purpose of our discussion is to investigate the advantages of the automatic seatbelt release compare to existing seatbelt technology.

Blogger Writing
(23 March 2011)
Add my group to my blog.
Research about fire sprinkler and automatic seatbelt release
In my research I found out that seatbelt automatic release is already in the market.
Fire sprinkler component is the same application used in building industries. We want this component automatically function in a event of fire. Therefore, it has to protect the vehicle driver or passengers and other components at the engine compartment.

Vehicle Safety discussion
Week Two (16 March 2011)
After class I went to the library with my group to research about vehicle safety system. A common problem for vehicle in now a day is crash which leads to the death of a motorist and high cost of re-servicing the vehicle components. So we discussed how we going to make a solution for this case. However, as we all know that ABS and Air bags are the most common safety system in a vehicle, but we wanted to build a project that is based under two functions. Which is a device or a system to protect the vehicle components; such as the engine components, electrical components, etc, and another device that can help the vehicle driver and passenger dismount after an accident.

Group Discussion
Week One (09 March 2011)
I joined up in a group of three; my group members are Farayi and Samuel. We have agreed to form up our group. My group members are very kind to add me. We discuss about the course and we came to an agreement that we have to do the course even though is tough and difficult. Our lectures have given us a contract form to research for a topic that we wante to do for our technical project. The contract is for our group to fill up, and what project we going to do and what is the purpose of our project and what are our agreed outcomes to the project. My group discussed about vehicle safety, later on we talked about how safety is important to vehicles.

The contract is for our group to fill up, and what project we going to do and what is the purpose of our project and what are our agreed outcomes to the project. My group discussed about vehicle safety, later on we talked about how safety is important to vehicles.
